Raggedy Ann & Andy Friendship Gathering

Dates: 06/04/2010 - 06/05/2010
Times: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Arcola is the home of the Raggedy Ann & Andy Museum, which features original artwork and documents from Johnny Gruelle, the originator of the doll and the stories. Joni Gruelle Wannamaker, the granddaughter of Johnny, and Tom Wannamaker, her husband, have managed the museum for many years and are closing it in 2010. Tom and Joni still live in Arcola. Those attending the Raggedy Ann Friendship Gathering will have an opportunity to meet the experts who know the doll's story. They can also exchange their collected treasures with others who are familiar with the different iterations and developments in the history and lore of the dolls.

Beyond that there will be some meetings, social gatherings, and a dinner. It's a good time.

The usual itinerary includes:
    Friday:
  • Cemetery Trek to the Arcola Cemetery showing the Gruelle family lot. Carpool at 10:00 AM or 11:00AM
  • English High Tea at the Flower Patch Bed and Breakfast for the first 30. $30 per guest
  • Dinner. Arrangements will be made according to preferences expressed to Susie Patridge. Choices include Kaskaskia Country Club; Tuscany in Tuscola; The Dog House, Arcola

  • Saturday:
  • Dinner at Flower Patch B&B by Reservation limit 30
